Throughout my career, I've crafted innovative group therapy experiences focused on dynamic boundaries, codependency, and self-trust, enabling clients to cultivate healthier lifestyles while addressing past mental health challenges. I am particularly passionate about my work with couples, having devised specialized interventions to nurture emotional intimacy and revitalize relationships.

Currently, I am pursuing my doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands. Ms. Heather Richmond

(she/her)

Clinician

My name is Heather Richmond, and I am a registered clinical mental health counselor intern. I recently completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Rollins College. Additionally, I have a bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Miami Dade College and I am a certified and licensed physician assistant in the state of Florida.

I am of Afro-Caribbean descent, and I was born in the Caribbean and subsequently immigrated to the United States where I spent my early life in New York City. It was in New York City that I had a multitude of experiences, exposure to diverse cultures and a deepening of my understanding and empathy for myself and others. These experiences overlapped with my experience of being diagnosed with a health condition as soon as I arrived in New York City. These formative experiences and my background have been foundational in creating a sense of the value of culture, language, lifelong learning, and the importance of connection to family and friends.

As a registered mental health counselor intern, I want to support clients across the lifespan utilizing an integrative framework that honors all their parts. I strongly believe that good mental health stems from a holistic mind-body-spirit approach with each area being vital to a person’s overall experience of joy, peace, and health. I understand that stress, adverse childhood experiences and trauma, chronic health issues, and social location can contribute to decreased confidence, low self-esteem and negative behaviors that contribute to poor mental health. I hope to support these concerns with a holistic and strength’s-based approach drawing from evidence-based practices, orientations validated by research and simple curiosity about what works for each client.

You may contact Heather at (407) 368-9848 ext. 4.
